What was initially an exciting start to the Jaxson Dart era has quickly turned into a nightmare.
After Dart ran in a touchdown on the Giants’ opening drive of the game to ignite the MetLife Stadium crowd, injury scares have since derailed Sunday’s game against the undefeated Chargers.
Midway through the second quarter, star wide receiver Malik Nabers fell to the turf after jumping up for a 50/50 ball along the sideline, and was eventually carted off the field. The second-year wideout was clutching his knee immediately after the play, and NFL Network later reported that the injury is believed to be a torn ACL, which would certain sideline Big Blue’s top offensive weapon for the rest of the season.
Early in the third quarter, Dart was taken out of the game for a concussion check, but was eventually cleared to return, avoiding all-out disaster.
Despite Dart avoiding a worse prognosis, the loss of Nabers is crippling for a Giants team that has been desperate for offense all season.
