The Mets finally have their front-line starter, acquiring RHP Freddy Peralta and RHP Tobias Myers from Milwaukee Wednesday night for RHP Brandon Sproat and IF/OF Jett Williams.

Peralta, 29, was an All-Star and finished fifth in NL Cy Young viting last year off the best season of his career – an NL-high 17 wins with a career-best 2.70 ERA and 204 strikeouts in 176 2/3 innings over 33 starts. He has made 95 starts over the last three seasons and, along with Dylan Cease, is just one of two pitchers with 200 or more K’s in each of the last three seasons.

The righty will be a free agent after the 2026 season, and will make $8 million this year on the final year of a deal he signed prior to the 2019 season with Milwaukee – and then-GM and now Mets GM David Stearns – that has ended up as a seven-year, $31.5 million deal with $250K in incentives earned so far.

Peralta can earn incentives this year for another All-Star nod, another Top 5 Cy Young finish (different values per slot), a Gold Glove, or a World Series and/or LCS MVP.

Myers, 27, was a sixth-round pick of the Orioles in 2016 and made his MLB debut with the Brewers in 2024. He was mostly a starter that season, going 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA in 138 innings over 27 games (25 starts), but last year served as more of a swingman – pitching to a 3.55 ERA in 50 2/3 innings over 22 games/six starts.

Sproat, 25, was the Mets’ second-round pick in 2023 and made his MLB debut last September, going 0-2 with a 4.79 ERA in four starts.

Williams, 22, was the No. 14 overall pick in 2022 and has been a consensus Top 100 prospect in baseball for the last three seasons. He split last season between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse, .261/.363/.465 with 17 home runs, 52 RBI, 34 doubles, and 34 steals in 130 games, while playing second base, shortstop, and center field.

The pair entered last season as the Mets’ No. 1 and No. 2 prospects, respectively, per MLB.com, and now slot in at No. 3 (Williams) and No. 6 (Sproat) on the current Brewers list.
