Due to the threat of severe weather in the NYC area on Monday night, the scheduled Mets-Cardinals game at Citi Field has been postponed, and the two teams will play a single-admission doubleheader starting at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.
"With severe weather in the area, we are thinking about everyone's safety, so tonight's game has been postponed," the team said in a Tweet linking to the announcement of the postponement.
Per the Mets, gates will open at 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday, and Game 2 will begin approximately 30-40 minutes following Game 1. Only tickets for Tuesday's originally scheduled game will be valid for the doubleheader.
The Mets lost their first series of the season on Sunday, courtesy of an 8-7 loss to the Mariners, while the Cardinals are coming off a 15-6 win over the Giants that saw Albert Pujols make his first-ever pitching appearance.
It remains to be seen how pitching matchups will shake out, although Trevor Williams was likely to get a spot start on Monday night with Tylor Megill on the I.L., and Taijuan Walker vs. former Met Steven Matz was scheduled to be the pitching matchup on Tuesday.
