Carlos Carrasco was bombed for five runs and three home runs in 2.1 innings of work on Wednesday, and then was taken out of the game by Buck Showalter and the Mets training staff.
Carrasco, who missed extensive time in his debut season with New York due to injury, threw a pitch that was fouled off with one out in the bottom of the third, and he exited the game soon after and went straight into the clubhouse. It was his 53rd pitch of the day.
Carrasco came into the game holding a 3.96 ERA in 13 starts on the season. He was replaced by Yoan Lopez.
