The event will coincide with the team taking on the Cincinnati Reds at 1:10 p.m. and will be a celebration of women in sports with “female focused pregame and in-game programming.”
An initiative of the Mets female-driven employee resource group called the “She-Unit,” a panel with the women of the Mets front office, will take place prior to the start of the game. Moderated by Mets in-game host Emily Reppert, the panelists will speak to other female industry contacts and women-driven community groups.
A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Queens native Olivia Pichardo. The baseball pitcher participated in the MLB’s Girls Baseball Breakthrough Series last fall and was recently named to the 2022 Women’s National Baseball Team.
The team will also take the time to remember Shannon Forde, a pioneer for women in baseball who rose through the ranks in the organization to become the senior director of media relations with the club. A video tribute will be shown on Citi Vision and Forde’s parents will be in attendance.
Tickets to the game can be purchased at Mets.com/Tickets or by calling 718-507-TIXX.
