Moose: Mets trade deadline proved David Stearns is 'brilliant'
Marc Malusis believes the Mets could have done more at the trade deadline, and many fans likely feel the same way, especially with how the team has been playing for the better part of two months.
"The starting rotation became an issue because of Kodai Senga. Would you liked for the Mets to go out there and attack? The answer is yes," Moose said. "If you're a Met fan, you don't care about five or 10 years from now…the Mets have not won a World Series since 1986.
"'I want this Mets team to go out there and deal, and trade from this farm system and add an upper echelon starter.'"
However, taking some emotion out of it, the Mets trade deadline performance is one that showed that the right people are in place to run the organization, and David Stearns knows what he's doing in his first year as president of baseball operations.
"I think the Mets dipped the toe, addressed the needs they needed to address…addressed the biggest need, and they'll go from there," Moose said. "They believed in this team to an extent, and Stearns is brilliant.
"It shows you that David Stearns has the power and control that he wants, and that's why he's here. Steve Cohen believes in the vision of David Stearns."
