Many Mets fans are mourning the departure of Jacob deGrom, who signed a five-year, $185 million deal with the Rangers on Friday night.
But one group that is celebrating the move is a Mets division rival in the Nationals.
After Texas officially announced the signing on Friday, Nationals Twitter responded with a trademark GIF of Tim Robbins' character from "The Shawshank Redemption" raising his arms in celebration and looking up to the sky as rain pours down on him, having just escaped from prison after 19 years of wrongful captivity.
That is likely how Washington felt having to face deGrom within the division since he broke into the league, as deGrom holds a 2.41 ERA with 181 strikeouts against the Nats in his career over 22 appearances.
