The Brooklyn Nets’ first trade involving Kevin Durant was a blockbuster, the second was the end of an era…and the third one was a true record-setter.
Yes, third, because the Nets were involved in the deal that sends Durant from Phoenix to Houston, one of seven franchises involved in the deal made official Sunday – marking the NBA’s first-ever seven-way trade.
The deal involved the Suns, Rockets, Nets, Hawks, Warriors, Lakers, and Timberwolves, and in the end the Nets got a pair of second-round picks from Phoenix – one in 2026 that is the least favorable of the Los Angeles Clippers’ or most favorable of the Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat, and one in 2030 (via Boston) – while sending the Suns the draft rights to 2025 No. 36 overall pick Adou Thiero.
All told, the deal involved seven teams, six players, one first-round pick, and 12 second-round picks, as well as a second-round pick swap and cash considerations from Houston to Atlanta.
