LaMarcus Aldridge missed the Nets’ back-to-back against Minnesota and Philadelphia due to a “non-COVID related illness,” which we found out Thursday was a heart issue that spurred Aldridge to retire immediately from the NBA.
Devastating news personally and professionally, and well-wishes poured in on Twitter, including from the team itself; the Nets’ Twitter account posted a pic-filled Tweet captioned “Wishing only health and happiness for (Aldridge) and his family in retirement,” while team owner Joe Tsai quote-tweeted Aldridge’s retirement post, saying “Although the time was short, we appreciated your leadership. Once a Net, always a Net.”
