New York Yankees re-sign LHP Joely Rodriguez to one-year deal

The New York Yankees today announced that they have signed LHP Joely Rodríguez to a one-year Major League contract.

Terms were not released, but according to Dan Martin of the New York Post, the deal is worth $2 million - meaning that, when combined with the $500K buyout the Yankees paid Rodriguez when they declined his $3 million team option last week, the team saved $500K by bringing Rodriguez back in this manner.

The 29-year-old lefty (30 later this week) was acquired from Texas in the Joey Gallo deal, and in 21 outings in pinstripes, he went 1-0 with 2.84 ERA over 19 innings, with 17 strikeouts against six walks. He was 1-3 with a 5.93 ERA in 31 appearances (27 1/3 innings) with the Rangers prior to the deal, totaling a career-high 52 appearances overall on the season, and overall he held lefties to a .203/.288/.271 (12-for-59) slash line.
