P.K. Subban has been fined $15 thousand for tripping Trevor Zegras in Tuesday night’s loss to the Ducks, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday.
The fine is the maximum amount allowed under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
In the opening minutes of Tuesday night’s game, Subban followed Zegras into the corner and appeared to use his left leg to trip Zegras from behind, sending him falling backwards onto the ice. No penalty was called, and Anaheim won 4-0.
“That is an undisciplined play that is not acceptable,” Devils head coach Lindy Ruff said of the trip by Subban. “He knows that. Not something we're going to put up with.”

Subban’s fine is his second in just over a week, as he was docked $5,000 for tripping Milan Lucic in a game against the Flames on Oct. 26.
