Lawrence Taylor was arrested again last week after he failed to register as a sex offender.

The reason he did not register is because he moved into a hotel and has been living there since April in order to avoid issues with his soon-to-be ex-wife, according to documents obtained by TMZ Sports.

Apparently, Lawrence told police he did not know he needed to report a change in address.

Lawrence’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, told the Associated Press earlier this week that the arrest was the result of a mixup.

“Sadly, he is in the middle of a divorce and his local police department suggested it would be best if he slept at a nearby hotel,” Aidala said. “Mr. Taylor was constantly a resident of the marital home where he was registered, but on advice of local law enforcement he was sleeping outside the home. We are confident that this will be resolved favorably for Lawrence at the first court hearing.”

However, the officers claim in the documents that they have paperwork to prove Taylor should have known better.

When the police issued a warrant for his arrest and Taylor was aware of it, he did “promptly turn himself in,” per the documents.

The Hall of Famer and Giants legend was charged with two felony counts of failure to register as a sex offender.

Lawrence pled not guilty to those charges earlier this week and Aidala told TMZ Sports that he is confident the case will be dismissed.
