A potential Giants draft pick just opened some eyes at Penn State’s Pro Day.
Nittany Lions star linebacker Micah Parsons ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash on Thursday, an impressive speed for the 245-pounder. He also put up 19 reps of 225 pounds.
Parsons, who opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, has been linked to the Giants in multiple mock drafts, including one by CBS Sports earlier this month. New York has the 11th pick in the upcoming draft, and while the team has other needs, Parsons is the top linebacker in the class, a position where the Giants could also use an upgrade.
Parsons recorded 109 tackles, 14 for a loss, five sacks and four forced fumbles in 2019. He is considered among the best defensive players in the draft, not just at the linebacker position.
At the 2019 NFL Combine in 2019, the best time in the 40-yard dash by a defensive end or edge rusher was 4.41, and the average time was 4.69. Parsons topped them both.
