And we’re down to seven, as two more Pulse of the People Award nominees have been eliminated from contention for the 2022 Award.

As broken on Carton & Roberts via the Pulse of the People Committee, Jets general manager Joe Douglas and WFAN’s own Boomer Esiason have been eliminated from contention.

WFAN’s Suzyn Waldman was the lone finalist eliminated last week, so that leaves seven in contention: six-time winner Craig Carton, FAN neophyte Keith McPherson, Barstool’s Stu Feiner, Mets owner Steve Cohen, Yankees GM Brian Cashman, Nets star Kyrie Irving, and, much to Evan’s chagrin, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

In making the announcement, the committee noted that Douglas has built a Jets team with a lot of potential, but potential doesn’t win titles (or giant golden thumbs):

As for Boomer, well, his decision to take Friday and Monday off – eschewing a chance to discuss Games 5 and 6 of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals – brought into question his work ethic, so that and his proclivity for making fun of NARPs gave Booms the boot from the thumb:

Craig tried to defend his former partner by reminding that next week is Breathe Week and Boomer is supporting the Cystic Fibrosis community…but since he’s a finalist, Craiggy also had to note that it doesn’t start ‘til Monday, so even though The Booms did call in to Jerry & Sal Friday morning, that’s still no good.

And Evan? Well, he’s still pissed about Manfred, but had a laugh that Boomer’s elimination was based on work ethic…while Kyrie Irving and his sabbaticals remain.

As a reminder, there will be four finalists, and the winner will be announced on June 30 at Carton & Roberts’ charity comedy show at Gotham Comedy Club. Limited tickets remain, so get yours now!
