Quentin Grimes carried to Knicks locker room after injuring knee

The Knicks were dealt bad injury news with Derrick Rose needing another procedure on his right ankle, but they may have even more bad news headed their way.

Quentin Grimes, the team's promising rookie who has earned his way into the rotation, was carried into the locker room after appearing to injure his knee during Friday's game against the Heat. The 21-year-old and first-round pick tried to get through a screen away from the ball, and collided with Miami's P.J. Tucker before going down to the floor, grabbing his knee. He was helped off the floor and then carried through the tunnel into the locker room.

Grimes had become a key contributor for New York, shooting 42 percent from the floor and 38 percent from downtown in and average of 23 minutes over his last 25 games.

UPDATE: The Knicks announced that Grimes suffered a subluxation of his right patella, or a partial dislocation of his kneecap. Recovery from such an injury can typically take 4-6 weeks, though it is one that carries a risk of reinjury.

Grimes tweeted some optimism after the game:
