The Rangers Dads’ Trip returned for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic on Thursday night, and their sons gave them plenty to cheer about.

The Blueshirts exploded for eight goals in a blowout win over the Red Wings, with their fathers looking on from the stands in Detroit.

Mika Zibanejad’s father, Mehrdad, read the lineup out in the Rangers locker room before the game to honor his son playing in his 700th career game, and he joined the rest of the dad’s for a triumphant return of the team’s yearly ritual, and their kids made sure to light the lamp enough times to make up for the hiatus brought about by the pandemic.
