Uzomah, 29, had a career year with Cincinnati last season, catching 49 balls for 493 yards and five touchdowns in the regular-season, and adding 15 grabs for 146 yards and a score on the Bengals’ Super Bowl run – somewhat miraculously returning from a nearly-catastrophic knee injury suffered in the AFC Championship Game to suit up and make two receptions in Super Bowl LVI.

A fifth-round pick out of Auburn in 2015, Uzomah became the starting tight end in Cincy in 2018, and caught 163 balls for 1,591 yards and 13 scores in 79 games over seven seasons.

His addition to the offense will be a huge boost for the Jets and a huge upgrade at tight end, where the top two tight ends, Ryan Griffin and Tyler Kroft, combined for 43 catches, 424 yards, and three touchdowns over 23 games played.

Uzomah is also the third addition to the Gang Green offense on the first day of the NFL’s “legal tampering” period ahead of the new league year, as the team has also re-upped WR/KR Braxton Berrios and added ex-Niners guard Lakin Tomlinson on a three-year deal.
