Former Jets and Bills head coach Rex Ryan opened eyes on ESPN’s Get Up Monday morning by declaring that the Bills could fire Sean McDermott and pave the way for Bill Belichick to take over.
“You want to talk about nuts?” Gio said. “That would be nuts.”
Boomer agrees that it would be nuts, mainly because he wouldn’t move on from McDermott. Sure, the Bills have known nothing but playoff heartbreak under his watch, but fans need to remember how hard it is to win a Super Bowl, and to consistently be in the mix every year.
“I always talk about stability in these franchises and sometimes, if you're Atlanta and you went through Arthur Smith, things didn't work out,” Boomer said. “He chose a couple of quarterbacks that didn't work out for them, and you see, maybe just a losing that continues in that building since they last went to the Super Bowl. That's when you fire a coach and that's when you bring in maybe the greatest coach of all time to change the way things are being done and, and try to get along with the people that are there.
“Yeah, of course they haven’t won and got caught up with Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes. By the way, those guys are no slouches…I’m not getting rid of Sean McDermott. I’m bringing back him and Josh Allen and bolstering the roster…they will be right back in the mix next year.”
