Rick Wolff's Sports Edge: A look into Duxbury HS Football's insensitive audible calls

Tune in to WFAN every Sunday morning for 'Rick Wolff's Sports Edge,' and follow Rick Wolff on Twitter @askcoachwolff.

When I read about the head football coach at Duxbury HS in Massachusetts, and how he had instructed his players and assistant coaches to use terms like Auschwitz, Rabbi, and Dreidel as audibles during games, I had to go back and read the account twice. I was stunned.

But the story was true, and it also reminded me of a HS football coach in Maine 15 years ago who thought that the phrase "Work will set you free" was a great motivational slogan for his team. He wasn't aware that the phrase was posted on one of main gates at Auschwitz.

The Duxbury head coach was fired. The coach in Maine was suspended for a game.

The response to this morning's show was remarkable with lots of callers with tremendous insights and thoughts. I urge you to take a moment to listen to the podcast at the top.
