Ron Rivera could not help but poke a little fun at one of his NFC East rival coaches.
The Washington Football Team head coach spoke with reporters at training camp on Sunday, when at the conclusion of the press conference, one reporter said, “Thank you, Ron.”
Rivera replied, “Oh, it’s coach,” with a wink and walked off before adding, “just kidding,,” according to Washington Post reporter Nicki Jhabvala.

The remark appeared to be a bit of trolling at New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett’s expense.
When a reporter told Garrett earlier this week, “good to see you in person, Jason,” he replied, “good to see you, coach.”
Garrett caught an enormous amount of criticism from media members on social media, who argued that it makes absolutely no sense for a reporter to refer to a fellow peer as “coach.”

The “coach” debate was originally sparked by Deion Sanders, who is coaching at HBCU Jackson State, and ended a press conference when a reporter addressed him as “Deion.”
Rivera seems to be amused by it all and a little tweaking of a division rival is training camp fodder we’ll take in early August.
