Shaheen Holloway left Saint Peter’s for a homecoming opportunity at his alma mater Seton Hall. Now, Wagner head coach Bashir Mason will get a homecoming of his own.
According to multiple reports, the Peacocks are replacing Holloway with Mason as the men’s basketball head coach, bringing the Jersey City native back home.

Mason spent the last decade as Seahawks head coach, leading the NEC squad to a 165-130 record and two NIT appearances. Last season, Wagner went 21-6 but lost to Bryant, where Saint Peter’s star Doug Edert just transferred to, in the conference tournament title game.
While Mason’s heartwarming homecoming can ease the blow of Holloway’s departure, he arrives with plenty of holes to fill. Shortly after Holloway took the Seton Hall job, five key contributors from the Peacocks’ magical Elite Eight squad entered the transfer portal, including Matthew Lee, Hassan Drame, Fousseyni Drame, and Daryl Banks.
