Mark Chernoff had a lengthy career in radio, and is thoroughly enjoying retirement (we think…the guy like disappeared!) so far…but imagine if he had left WFAN to take a job as head of Mets PR, and was in charge during Thumb-Gate?
Sal Licata and Jerry Recco are filling in for Boomer & Gio this week, and they had some fun with that notion on Monday.
“What is that you’re doing with the thumbs down over there,” Sal started to rant, and that’s when Jerry made a comment that brought Sal to the thought of Chernoff as head of PR.
And then, Sal told the story of a former WFAN producer who put someone claiming to be Jeff Wilpon on the hotline, saying he was going to build a roller coaster outside Citi Field, and we got Chernoff’s response from Sal in the Cherny voice:
“I’d rather you come to my house and stab me in the chest with a knife!”
Sal’s Cherny may not be as spot on as Gio’s, but hey, it’s a living!
