Woody Johnson took a blowtorch to Zach Wilson by telling reporters that the Jets didn’t have a backup quarterback last season, and Sal responded by going scorched earth on the Jets owner.
“Woody Johnson can’t help himself, again showing how clueless he is,” Sal said. “As if employing the worst head coach in the NFL isn’t the problem. Or if Joe Douglas and his picks aren’t the problem. The Jets have a big problem, and it is Woody Johnson.
“The people he hired to do their job suck at doing their job, and he can’t see that! He’s blaming the backup quarterback, which is insulting to Zach Wilson, and how’d he get here? Joe Douglas, the guy you hired, picked him No. 2, then sent him to the wolves and set him up to fail.”
Instead of criticizing his failed quarterback, Sal says Johnson should focus on what has been a failed general manager and head coaching hire, which he hasn’t seemed to acknowledge despite three straight seasons with double-digit losses.
“He’s not acknowledging the issue with Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh,” Sal said.
