Sal has made it clear that he is a believer in Tommy DeVito and what he can become, as he has shown the traits of a successful NFL quarterback in his time as the starter.
But Sal also doesn’t understand why believing in an undrafted quarterback has to mean that DeVito is going to go on to a career that rivals the most successful quarterback of all time.
“Why does it have to be, if you’re talking about him in a positive way, you’re thinking he’s the next Hall of Famer?” Sal said. “Nobody is saying Tommy DeVito will be the next Tom Brady. However, he can be the next Brock Purdy.”
Purdy, a top candidate to win the MVP this season, was an out-of-nowhere revelation last season, as has built upon that this year, even after major surgery. Sal says DeVito could follow that path, but expressing that belief doesn’t mean DeVito is set to be the next Brady.
“Tell me why we should not be believing in Tommy DeVito if you’re seeing it with your very eyes?” Sal said. “He’s doing it right now. Why can’t we just enjoy what Tommy DeVito is doing and believe he can sustain success like Brock Purdy?”
