Sal would keep Aaron Rodgers off field for Jets preseason finale, but BT wants him to play

The Jets and Giants are set to face off in preseason action on Saturday night, and the question will be if Aaron Rodgers gets any action in Gang Green’s final tune-up before the games count.

If Sal was in Robert Saleh’s shoes, he would tell his 40-year-old quarterback to take a seat.

“There’s just no need to have Aaron Rodgers go out there in the preseason,” Sal said. “It’s not gonna do anybody any good. He said it himself, it’s not real football.

“Forty years of age, coming off the injury he had a year ago, I am not - I could not live with myself if I played Aaron Rodgers in the preseason and he got hurt.”

Sal admits the decision could be partially based on fear of another injury after Rodgers was lost for the season after just four snaps in Week 1 of last year, and believes if Saleh doesn’t want Rodgers to play, he needs to be firm in that decision. But BT says Saleh, if that is indeed his mindset, should be open to change if Rodgers voices a desire to play and knock off some rust. As for his own decision, BT would want Rodgers on the field on Saturday.

“I think it sets a tone,” BT said. “I can’t prove that, that’s just always been in my gut. And it’s an entirely new offensive line...I want him to play.”
