Sean Casey recently revealed that he would not be back as Yankees hitting coach, but in the latest episode of his podcast, The Mayor’s Office, Casey gave some friendly advice to the Bombers as a parting gift.
The advice was simple: go out and make a blockbuster trade for Juan Soto.
“They need it man,” Casey said. “The Yankees need a star left-handed bat. A guy like Soto, what is he, 24-25 years old? This would be the guy for me.”
Soto is a free agent after next season, which could lead the Padres to trade him if they feel he won’t commit to a long-term deal in San Diego. Soto has long been seen as the perfect fit for Yankee Stadium, and their most recent hitting coach seems to agree.
“You see Judge and Cole, the window is probably the next six years,” Casey said. “It would make the lineup so much longer if you get a star left-handed bat. For me, when I look at it, it would be such a grand slam for them to get a guy like Juan Soto.”
