Yankees hitting coach Sean Casey revealed on his podcast on Wednesday morning that he will not be returning to his role with the Bombers in 2024.

Casey, citing family reasons, said, “I have my two daughters at home. I think getting divorced a few years ago, I have those girls 50 percent of the time. I just can’t imagine being away for eight months.”

Casey took over for Dillon Lawson after Lawson was fired midseason, seemingly signaling a change in hitting philosophy throughout the organization. Casey arrived with no commitment from either side to next season, and the Yankees couldn’t improve enough at the plate to avoid their worst record in 31 years.

Casey also noted on his podcast that no offer was made by the Yankees to return in 2024, but he believes he would have been able to had he expressed a desire to do so.
