Steve Somers hits on Knicks playoffs, Jets QB concerns in opening monologue

Steve Somers filled in for a special Sunday Schmooze, and his opening monologue, as always, didn’t disappoint.

From the Knickerbockers and Metropolitans to Caitlin Clark, Shohei Ohtani, and O.J. Simpson, Steve covered everything on Sunday, starting with the Knicks, who he says won themselves a tough first-round matchup in the Sixers or Heat by clinching the second seed, but they should still be able to win a playoff series for the second straight season.

“They won’t, or shouldn’t, miss Julius Randle in the first round,” Steve said.

The Schmooze also sounded off on fans who went after Francisco Lindor’s wife on social media, touched on the Yankees’ bullpen concerns, and looked ahead to the NFL Draft and the state of the Jets, where the state of the quarterback position still doesn’t seem on the most solid of footing with Aaron Rodgers coming off a season-ending injury at 40 years old.

“His backup is somebody who is 35 and could have difficulty staying on the field, and his backup is someone you never want to see coming on the field, that’s for sure,” Steve said. “You can’t trade Zach Wilson. Nonetheless, he’s gonna be around for money purposes as well.”
