Tiki is done with Daniel Jones as Giants quarterback, for now

Tiki Barber has long maintained that Daniel Jones should remain the starting quarterback, believing that Jones gives the Giants the best chance to win in the here and now.

After Sunday’s disastrous loss to the Panthers, Tiki has officially joined the other side.

“I don’t think he gives you the best chance to win anymore,” Tiki said, noting that even if Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock likely aren’t real solutions, it could be better than what Jones is putting on tape right now.

“I don’t know, but I want to know. I’d rather know. I’d rather find out. If you’re gonna lose games anyway, I’d rather find out. I think I’m done with DJ.”

Jones threw for 190 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions on Sunday, and missed multiple open receivers while taking a sack on a third-down flea flicker in a disastrous outcome. Jones has been struggling for much of the season, and with an injury guarantee in his contract, many believe the risk isn’t worth it to play Jones anymore. Tiki has now come around to that line of thinking.

“Daniel Jones, just throw the football,” Tiki said. “At 2-8, that’s what you’re saying to yourself. ‘Why are we continuing to run the same thing over and over again?’

“He’s developed a hitch in his throw now. Before every throw, he’s doing this quick hitch. It’s why he’s late all the time...get the ball out of your hands. At this point, I want to know if he’s the best option to win games this year.”

Tiki adds that the miserable Giants season isn’t all on Daniel Jones, but his decision making and execution simply isn’t helping matters at all, and Brian Daboll might as well give the offense a different look now that the season is over.

“The season is dead. They’re 2-8 and can’t win games that they’re in position to win,” Tiki said. “The Giants can’t win games when they have the opportunity to win it. It’s one thing if you’re just not good enough...the Giants are good enough, they just can’t do it.

“It drives me insane how the Giants have the opportunities and just don’t execute them.”
