The Giants reportedly had an “exploratory meeting” with Russell Wilson, and while Tiki isn’t sure that anything will come of it in terms of the former Super Bowl champ coming to New York, he does believe it signifies the end of the Daniel Jones era.

“There is one thing you can take from this: The Giants are done with Daniel Jones,” Tiki said. “You don’t take a meeting with Russell Wilson unless you’re already ready to move on from Daniel Jones.

“He’s gonna be here, because he has a $40 million salary and the cap hit would be exorbitant to absorb. But it’s clear that the Giants are moving on from Daniel Jones. Whether it’s next year or this year, it’s happening.”

Big Blue has an escape hatch in Jones’ contract after the upcoming season, and the oft-injured quarterback is still recovering from ACL surgery. Tiki believes meeting with Wilson means the Giants no longer believe in Jones, despite what Joe Schoen and company have said publicly.

As for Wilson, it’s not something Tiki would shut the door on.

“My gut says no,” Tiki said. “But when I think about the opportunity that it brings to the Giants, to have a known winner…someone who can make plays, who might be over the hill but still has a little left…it kind of gets interesting.”
