The NBA season doesn't start for over a month, but Trae Young is already getting booed again at Madison Square Garden.
After leaning into his new Knicks villain persona in last year's playoffs, the Hawks star point guard was back at the World's Most Famous Arena on Friday night as a surprise guest for WWE Smackdown. Professional wrestler Sami Zayn, sporting a Kevin Knox jersey, introduced Young, who came out to a chorus of boos from the New York crowd.
Much like he did when he eliminated the Knicks in five games last season, Young fully embraced the hatred, holding his hand to his ear to encourage the crowd to boo louder, and patted the Hawks logo across his sweatshirt.
Young trolled Knicks fans after hitting the game-winning shot in game one of last year's playoff series, and took a bow after eliminating New York in game five. His performance in the series led many to proclaim him as Madison Square Garden's newest villain. He clearly loves carrying that label.
