For a lot of soccer fans, tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been card to get - and if you were able to get them, they were quite pricey. But there have been some lucky Verizon customers who not only won tickets to the World Cup, but they have also been featured on Verizon’s billboard campaign that was launched to celebrate the winners.

Verizon is the official telecommunications sponsor of the World Cup.

Diego Cadena from New Hyde Park has been with Verizon for thirty years, and he saw France beat Sweden 3-0 in the Round of 32 at New York/New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) this past Tuesday.

“Some dreams are bought while others are earned and thankfully some are won,” said Cadena. “I’m incredibly grateful that I was able to experience it here in New York with my dad. Growing up as a kid from New York City, I always dreamed of seeing myself on a billboard in Times Square. Thank you, Verizon, for creating memories that my dad and I will cherish for the rest of our lives.”

Brittany Smith won her tickets through a Verizon myAccess ticket drop and has been a Verizon customer for a decade.

She went to two matches: Austria vs Algeria in Kansas City and Scotland vs Haiti in Foxboro.

“I was in disbelief when I won,” said Smith. “I lost so many times before I finally won. When I found out I was doing a billboard, it made me excited to be a loyal Verizon customer for ten years now. I don’t think I’m ever leaving Verizon.”

Going to a World Cup match is a once in a lifetime experience for many soccer fans. It’s even more special to be featured on a billboard to celebrate that achievement.

For Diego Cadena and Brittany Smith, it’s a dream come true.
