Never count your chickens before they hatch, or discount a field goal before it reaches the uprights.

CBS’ Kevin Harlan did just that in Sunday morning’s Jacksonville-Miami game from London, but he turned out to be wrong after saying “nope” on this 54-yard field goal by Jaguars kicker Matthew Wright:

Wright, who kicked in the XFL last spring, has been Jacksonville’s kicker for the last three weeks, but has been elevated from and sent back to the practice squad repeatedly, and wasn’t officially added to the roster for Week 6 until Saturday.

That long game-tying field goal was his second of the game, and his third and final one, at the gun, was a 53-yarder that gave the Jags a 23-20 win, the first NFL win for Urban Meyer and the team’s first win since Week 1 of 2020, ending a 20-game losing streak.

Wright’s three field goals on Sunday were also the first three for the Jaguars as a team this year, as Josh Lambo was 0-for-3 in the first three weeks, and Wright missed his only previous attempt.
