Friday is A-Rod Day on Evan and Tiki, as Morash leads a celebration of the career of Alex Rodriguez in pinstripes.
Sure, the career wasn’t without its warts, like admitted steroid use, a season-long suspension, and feuds with the team and baseball as a whole, but it also included two MVPs and one of the most dominant playoff performances in franchise history, culminating in the team’s last World Series title.
So, what do the other hosts at the station think about A-Rod being honored? Gio and BT were among those in favor of recognizing the former Yankee superstar.
“I do like the idea, though. I was a little bit of an A-Rod guy, I gotta admit,” Gio said. “So congratulations, Alex.”
“Long overdue,” BT added. “A baseball injustice finally rectified. So what, he needed some pills and needles to get the job done? He’s one of the greatest players of all time. It’s about time. Hey, welcome to Monument Park. We’ll make one for you.”
Boomer was more on the fence, while Sal clearly wasn’t on board.
“I don’t understand what this is about,” Sal said. “I’m confused how we, as a station, and them, as a show, can retire a number…I really don’t get it. quite frankly, I think it’s stupid.”
