Why did Boomer predict Pete Alonso will re-sign with the Mets on Friday?
Boomer and his inside sources are right more often than not, and Mets fans are surely hoping what he posted on X Thursday night comes true: 'I'm feeling like Pete is a Met (Friday).'
That came out at 8:49 p.m., and man, what a way for Boomer & Gio to open a Feel Good Friday by talking about just why Boomer thinks it's coming.
"I'm thinking today's the day, man, so I just wanted to get out in front of it," Boomer said. "As a diehard Mets fan myself, I want the guy at first base and in the lineup. Steve Cohen's done a lot of great things for us since he's taken over ownership of this team, and this will be another one, another nice little present as I believe they'll come to an agreement today."
Boomer kept using the word "feel" trying to deflect any potential inside info, saying only it was a "sneaking suspicion" even as he "always has an ear to the ground."
"You wouldn't put it out there unless you knew," Eddie accused.
"Yeah, I put it out there, and I stand by is, and if it doesn't happen, you can call me a jackass, whatever you want," Boomer said. "Every time we go down this road, you make these comments and take these shots at me – but I do, really…hopefully, today is the day."
Eddie said they would call him "Boomstradamus" on Monday if that comes true, although Gio thinks that's just gonna make Booms paranoid.
"Listen, all the deducing I do…I've always been very interested in situations like this, and I love situations like this because it really is about people coming together and doing what I believe is the right thing," Boomer said. "And given certain people that I have spoken to, it makes me feel like this is gonna be a really good day in Mets land. That's how I feel today, and I hope by the time the day's over, things get done. I'm very encouraged."
Boomer was apparently with some "high-profile sports marketing people and agents" Thursday night at the Ivy Football Foundation Dinner, although this is a feeling he had before then and he got some "solid information"…so, only time will tell.
