Jacoby Ellsbury knows what it’s like to sign a big contract with the Yankees, and he simply offered his public congratulations to Aaron Judge on Wednesday, tweeting a nice message to his former teammate after Judge reportedly inked a $360 million deal to remain in the Bronx.

Then, Yankee fans swarmed to remind the oft-injured Ellsbury that they think much differently of Judge than they do Ellsbury.

The replies ripped Ellsbury for the flop that became of his seven-year, $153 million contract that he signed before the 2014 season, part of the Yankees’ offseason spending spree that also brought in Masahiro Tanaka and Brian McCann.

Ellsbury, who played 112 games in 2017 with Judge also in the outfield, never played again after that season, as the Yanks released him in 2019 and withheld the rest of his contract amid claims that he had used an outside rehab facility without the team’s permission. The grievance was settled back in April.

But clearly, Yankee fans haven’t gotten over it.
