Yankees activate Jameson Taillon, Tuesday's starter, from IL

Jameson Taillon is back in the Yankee rotation, as the team announced Monday that the righty has been activated from the IL on the team’s final off day of the regular season.

Taillon, now listed as New York’s probable pitcher for Tuesday’s pivotal series opener against Toronto, had been on the injured list since Sept. 9 with a partially torn tendon in his right ankle. He made one rehab start at Triple-A last week.

Taillon holds a 4.41 ERA and a 4.49 FIP on the season, but he labored through a rough August before pitching strong in his first September start, allowing three runs over seven innings against a tough Blue Jays lineup before landing on the IL.

Earlier in the year, Taillon was the American League Pitcher of the Month in July, and will look to recapture that efficiency as the Yanks look to lock up the top Wild Card spot this week.

To make room for Taillon, reliever Albert Abreu was optioned to Triple-A.
