Yankees fans are suffering some painful flashbacks to 2007 as the Guardians get ready to head to the Bronx for the ALDS.

Daniel Popper, a Chargers beat writer for The Athletic, noted that the swarm of bugs seemed to be invading FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, where the Browns were hosting the Bolts. He tweeted afterward that he learned those bugs were midges, the bugs that infamously tormented Joba Chamberlain in the 2007 ALDS, disrupting the dominant reliever and allowed the tying run to score in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch.

Cleveland eventually won on a walk-off in the 11th, and Joe Torre later said his one regret as Yankees manager was not pulling his team off the field as the midges swarmed.

If the midges are back on Sunday in Cleveland, there is a chance they could stlll be around by next weekend, when the Yanks will be in town for at least game three. If so, they better bring plenty of bug spray, though that didn’t seem to help Chamberlain much 15 years ago.
