The Yankees just keep making history.
After their 9-3 win over the Rays in Game 1 of the 2020 ALDS, the Yankees are 3-0 this postseason and averaging more than 10 runs per game, but that’s not all that’s rocking. Aaron Judge, who has homered twice this postseason, now has 10 homers and 20 RBI in 30 career playoff games – making him the fifth player in MLB history to hit both of those thresholds within that time span.
In addition, Game 1 winner Gerrit Cole, who struck out eight Rays, now has 21 K in two starts this postseason – marking the third-highest total ever for any hurler in his first two postseason starts for a team.
Oh, yeah, and as for their 31 runs scored and 11 home runs in three games? Most runs ever in the first three games of a postseason – the old record of 30 was held by, you guessed it, the Yankees – and most homers in a three-game postseason span in MLB history.
The Bronx Bombers, baby.
