Juan Soto trade talks are reportedly heating up, as SNY’s Andy Martino reports that the Yankees and Padres are discussing the star outfielder, to the point where the two teams are “exchanging names on players.”

Martino added that the two sides aren’t yet close to an agreement, as the initial ask on Soto is “very high.”

The Padres are reportedly still mulling what to do about Soto, who is a free agent after next season. San Diego has shown no fear when it comes to spending big, but Soto is expected to bring in a massive haul in free agency given his young age, as he just turned 25 years old.

Soto would seemingly be a perfect fit in New York given his lefty swing and prolific on-base ability, as he led the league in walks last season for the third time I his career. He finished 2023 with 35 home runs, a career high, and 109 RBI. He posted a .903 OPS while playing all 162 games.
