Lou Trivino is back, as the Yankees announced Wednesday night they have signed the righty reliever to a one-year deal with an option for 2025. According to Joel Sherman of the Post, the deal has a $1.5 million salary this year with a $5 million club option.

Trivino, 32, was acquired at the 2022 deadline and had a 1.66 ERA in 21 2/3 innings over 25 appearances. He missed all of 2023, however, as he was diagnosed with an elbow sprain in Spring Training, and ended up having Tommy John surgery in May.

The Yankees non-tendered Trivino, who made $4.1 million last year, back in November ahead of his final year of arbitration, and now get him back for about a third of that as he finishes his Tommy John rehab, and he could return somewhere around or just after the All-Star break – possibly the same time frame as Scott Effross, who underwent back surgery in December and will miss the start of the season.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Trivino, the Yankees placed OF Jasson Dominguez on the 60-day injured list.
