Yankees reportedly trade Oswald Peraza to Angels

The Yankees have reportedly parted with a former hyped prospect.

According to Jack Curry of the YES Network, the Bombers have traded Oswald Peraza to the Angels, ending his nine-year tenure in the organization. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Yanks will get back international bonus pool money and Wilberson De Pena in return.

De Pena is just 18 years old from the Dominican Republic. The outfielder is batting .211 with a .747 OPS in the Dominican Summer League.

Peraza was formerly one of the top ranked prospects in the Yankees’ system, but his bat never panned out. He is batting .152 with three home runs and a .452 OPS this season, and batting .190 for his career.

The infielder broke through in 2022 and hit over .300 in his first 18 big-league games, but his offense cratered from there. With the acquisition of Amed Rosario as infield depth, Peraza became more expendable.
