The Yankees traded Gary Sanchez this offseason, so Kyle Higashioka seemingly decided to take his place by hitting like 2016 Sanchez.

The new Yankee starting catcher, expected to be the full-time catcher with Ben Rortvedt still sidelined by an oblique injury, launched a mammoth home run out of the stadium during the Yankees’ spring training game against the Braves on Saturday.

It was Higashioka’s sixth bomb of spring training, the most in the league. And he was only halfway done.

In his next at-bat, Higashioka blasted another home run to the opposite field for his seventh long ball of the spring. The veteran and career backup (except when Gerrit Cole was on the mound) has never been known for his bat, so the social media reactions to his home run frenzy were certainly understandable.
