Las Vegas police have arrested a man in the 1996 drive-by shooting of hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested Friday morning, according to the Associated Press. He was indicted on one count of murder with a deadly weapon, Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo announced.

Homicide Lt. Jason Johansson called Davis the "leader and shot caller" who ordered Shakur's death.
Davis publicly admitted in 2018 that he was present during the September 1996 shooting that killed Shakur. His nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, had brawled with Shakur at a casino earlier in the evening, and was seen as a suspect in the killing before his own death two years later.
Las Vegas police raided Davis’ wife’s home in July, seizing multiple computers, a copy of his 2019 tell-all memoir “Compton Street Legend,” and other items “concerning the murder of Tupac Shakur,” according to policy documents.
At the time of his death, the 25-year-old Shakur was considered one of the most influential rappers of all time. His long-unsolved murder has been the subject of speculation for decades.
