Santa or Domino’s?
The company announced on Monday that it would be handing out holiday bonuses to 11,500 hourly employees this month.
In a press release, the pizza chain said that it has committed $9.6 million for frontline workers at its corporate-owned stores and supply chain facilities. Drivers would also qualify for the bonus.
Eligible team members may even get as much as $1,200 per person, the company noted.
“We have the honor and privilege of being open and operating throughout the US during this crisis, and we recognize that we could not be doing it without the hard work and dedication of our team members,” Domino’s chief executive Ritch Allison said in a statement. “This is our way of saying thank you to these remarkable people.”
Domino’s has been making dough as people order in during their pandemic quarantine. The company saw a bump in second quarter sales with an increase of $49.3 million in profits. Shares of Domino’s went up nearly 30% in 2020.
This is the second bonus Domino’s has given employees amid the pandemic. The company also gave paid time off to front-line workers.
Additionally, Domino’s revealed it would be hiring another 30,000 employees in the U.S. to meet demand and to provide opportunities for those who were affected by job loss and business closures.
Back in June, Sam’s Club and Walmart showered employees with gratitude by giving them bonuses. The retailers dished out a combined $390 million towards bonuses, which came out to about $300 to full-time workers and $150 to part-time associates.
