Following his arrest by U.S. Marshals in Broward County, Florida on Thursday night, Chicago rapper Lil Durk has been charged in a murder-for-hire plot.

According to the indictment, unsealed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Thursday, Durk is charged for his alleged involvement in the plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, over his alleged involvement in the 2020 killing of up and comer King Von that took place in Atlanta.

The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks, is currently being held at Broward County Jail in Florida without bond.

In addition, federal charges were also filed against Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston.

According to the prosecution, the five men named in the indictment have alleged ties to the rap group “Only the Family” (OTF), formed by Lil Durk in 2010. All will be facing charges including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire resulting in death, as well as the use of, carry and discharge of firearms and a machine-gun in the furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

Investigators claim Rondo was targeted as direct retaliation of being involved in the death King Von, as Von was fatally shot by Quando’s associate Lul Timm following a heated argument.

Per the indictment, officials allege that the men used an OTF-associated credit card to purchase plane tickets to Los Angeles in August 2022, for the alleged purpose of searching for Quando Rondo.

The prosecution goes on to claim that Grant booked a hotel room for the men and provided them with firearms. Grant also allegedly rented two cars the men to use to follow Rondo and his cousin.

The shooting was detailed to have occurred when Rondo and his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, aged 24, stopped for gas. It was then, Houston allegedly drove into a nearby alley for Jones, Lindsey, and a third unidentified man to carry out the shooting. Rondo was not injured in the shooting, however, his cousin was killed.

The indictment goes on to add that following the shooting, the defendants went to a nearby eatery to discuss payment. And that the very same day, OTF-associated credit card was once again used to purchase plane tickets for Wilson, Jones, Lindsey and Houston to return back to Chicago.

According to TMZ, Jones and Houston have hearings scheduled in Chicago on Monday. While, Grant, Wilson, and Lindsey have waived their right to a hearing and instead will be sent to Los Angeles.
