As if 2020 isn’t scary enough, now a spa owner is encouraging his clients to use live snakes during massages.

Safwat Sedki owns a spa in Cairo, Egypt, and he believes in the power of pain relief and improvement of blood circulation through the use of slithering helpers.

Sedki uses 28 different types of non-venomous snakes in his 30-minute massage treatments.

“The use of snakes is a type of massage, and it has two aims, physical and emotional,” Sedki told Reuters. “The physical aim is to improve blood circulation and mental stimulation and the emotional aim is that it releases endorphins that help with the ‘happy hormone’ that helps people regain confidence and strengthen the immune system.”

Initially, Sedki offered his slithery sessions for free, but now he charges around 100 Egyptian Pounds -- a very affordable $6.37 for a 20 or 30-minute treatment.
