On Sunday, January 5, 2020, Lizzo tweeted that she’s done with Twitter because of “too many trolls” and will be back when she feels like it.
While there has been a tweet on her account since, to promote that she’ll be headlining Bonnaroo on Saturday, June 13, 2020 – the tweet was signed by her management to further indicate that Lizzo isn’t checking Twitter.

With 1.4 million followers on Twitter, she’s certainly gained a lot of attention, but unfortunately, not all attention is good. But don’t worry, if you want to hear from her, she is still active on Instagram with her 7.3 million followers (and sparingly on Facebook).
She also took to her Instagram Live to say, “I just took a DNA test and it turns out I quit Twitter.” Going on to say, “All social media is not created equal.”
This could be a great opportunity for Lizzo to take a huge stance against Internet bullies, perhaps there’s a way she can work with her management team to still put out her content without having to be so involved with the notifications. With her growing fame, I’m sure she can have someone comb through and prioritize what she needs to handle.
I’m wishing Lizzo all of the best and that we one day see her spreading her positive messages on Twitter once more.
