Now that June has arrived, Pride season has also landed here at Audacy. All month long we will be waving the flag for our friends, family members, and colleagues while celebrating the diversity, creativity, and ingenuity of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Before diving into her interview with Audacy’s AJ Gibson and Mikalah Gordon of Audacy's Channel Q, Zara Larsson delivered a fiery performance of tracks off her latest album, Poster Girl. Singing “WOW” and “Look What You’ve Done” the Swedish Pop star left the stage in flames.
As live music begins to crop back up in all of our lives, Zara isn’t just ready to get back on the road, the singer is also ready to be embraced by all of her fans.
In Larsson’s world Pride has always taken center stage. She regularly attends the Stockholm Pride festival and tells us, “it’s just an amazing time to celebrate love and celebrate… being yourself and being able to express that.”
Since starting her career, Zara tells us how grateful she’s been to be surrounded by members of the LGBTQ+ community and to be embraced by her queer peers. “I’m super happy that I get to be a small part of that,” says the “Love Me Land” singer.
“It’s always important to support people for who they are,” begins Zara as she reflects on Pride in a modern context. “That’s just always been the way for me… and it’s kind of weird to think that that’s now how it is for a lot of people.”
During Pride and at all times of the year, Larsson is a big proponent of reaching out to friends and loved ones, particularly after a year that brought on an irregular amount of isolation. “We all need a little extra love,” notes the Pop songstress.
