Whenever a band attempts to change their style, it’s a guarantee some of their most loyal fans will be upset, calling them sellouts for the change.
This is something Metallica has dealt with for seemingly their entire career. However, the band can’t be blamed for the latest reason fans are upset, as someone has turned Metallica into a disco band thanks to a mashup that has gone viral.
Youtuber Bill McClintock has become known for his creative mashups, often taking two completely opposite styled songs and combining them.
His latest may be his most impressive yet, as he created a song using Metallica’s ‘Sad but True,’ and Leo Sayer’s ‘You Make Me Feel Like Dancing.’ The video combines performances from Sayer and Metallica, making it seem as if Sayer and James Hetfield are sharing a duet.
"I've done eighty or so mashups. You would think that the more you do, the easier it gets. However, I think that it has gotten more difficult — my standards are higher,” said McClintock.
Some of McClintock's other viral mashups include Nine Inch Nails combined with Hall & Oates, and Slipknot combined with Spice Girls. His Metallica disco song will definitely be hard to top.
